SELECT YOUR COUNTY:
Solano County residents will not be facing any kind of water cutbacks or water use restrictions like many other Californians. Thanks to wise water management planning, Solano County is not as affected by current climatic conditions as are other areas of California. Lake Berryessa, the primary water source for many Solano County cities and our agriculture, is over 80% full which translates to about 1.3 million acre-feet (one acre-foot is equal to approximately 326,000 gallons).
Solano County Water Agency recognizes that water is a limited and precious resource and encourages everyone to use it wisely. Much of this can be accomplished with simple common sense methods – water your lawn either in the early morning or evening; use a broom to sweep your driveway rather than a hose; adjust sprinkler heads to avoid watering the sidewalk; and fix leaking faucets and toilets (or replace with a new water-efficient model.
The Agency has implemented several new water conservation programs. We have a program in place that offers a rebate of up to $125 to encourage residents to switch out old high-water using toilets and replace them with newer, water-efficient models. For full program details visit www.conservationrebates.com.
In January 2008, we and other Bay Area water agencies teamed with P.G. & E. in a first of its kind water-energy partnership to offer rebates to customers who purchase and install water and energy efficient washing machines. Qualifying Solano County residents can receive a combined water and energy rebate of up to $200. Interested parties can apply for a rebate on-line at www.waterenergysavings.com.
There is also a program in place, open to all County businesses, that offers free water use surveys to allow business owners to use less water and pay lower water bills, thereby improving the bottom line. Additionally, beginning this summer, The Agency will offer a new rebate program to encourage homeowners to install “smart” irrigation controllers – controllers that adjust watering automatically to suit weather conditions. Interested parties can obtain more information about these programs from the Agency’s water conservation website, www.solanosaveswater.org, or by contacting your local water utility.
Solano County residents are reminded to continue to use water efficiently because dry-weather conditions may persist. Currently we have an ample water supply where we have plenty to use but none to waste.
